In 2014, Alberta’s not-for-profit advanced technology agency, Cybera, began building an outline of the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure currently in place, highlighting what is needed to perform advanced research and foster innovation in the province. The State of Alberta Digital Infrastructure Report provides a detailed review of Alberta’s current network connectivity, data centre resources, high-performance and cloud computing resources, cybersecurity awareness and protection measures, data management policies and procedures, and key personnel.

In 2016, Cybera updated and expanded its Networking chapter of the State of Alberta Digital Infrastructure Report, to address the critical changes in bandwidth capabilities and technologies in the province. This expanded chapter is available as a searchable wiki.

This Networking in Alberta 2016 report is a living document, and we are always looking for feedback on what areas may be missing. Please let us know what should be added or revised.
